White Spots on Nails: Common Causes and What to Watch
Small white spots are common and are often linked to minor trauma as the nail forms. They are not automatically evidence of a vitamin deficiency.
What may be happening
Because fingernails grow slowly, you may not remember the small bump, pressure, or manicure-related trauma that occurred when a white spot formed. An isolated mark often simply travels toward the tip as the nail grows.
